What strength line to use on my reel?
I am currently using a beachcaster rod and a fairly hefty spinning reel. I have been using these for mackeral, pollock and bream but am now aiming for a few bass.
What line should i be using on my reel for fishing in the surf or through low water rock gullies?
I have always preferred Braided Line, Power Pro is the best, but I know braided can be an issue with surf fishing because of it’s tendency to get line twist in the wind.
So for surf fishing for bass, I would suggest 15-20lb mono, Trilene XT or Berkley Big Game are both really good. They have less memory than most others, and they cast well. A weight within that range will easily handle the bass, and even if something heavier grabs it, with the right drag, you can still get just about anything in with that line.
